The sequel to Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy X-2 takes place two years after Yuna’s fateful journey to defeat Sin. The once chaotic world of Spira has gone through a massive transformation, entering a period of "Eternal Calm". The people of Spira now shun the teachings of Yevon and have opened their arms to former foes, the Al Bhed and the use of machina. It is a time of the "Machina Revolution" where people now believe that machina is useful and beneficial, as long as it is used properly. Yuna also seems to be a different person, where once she had a very intense personality, she is now very easy-going. The game is also very different from Final Fantasy X. The player has total control of the airship at the start of the game. After the initial mission, players can go almost anywhere they want. This mission-based game has no set order of quests that the player has to complete, although there is a “Story Level" meter that has to be completed to beat the game. However, many of the missions have nothing to do with the story and they are fully optional. But like Final Fantasy X the battles in this game are amazingly fast and over very quickly because enemies can still be dispatched in one or two hits.
An important aspect of the game is the completion of the Job system. Jobs are character classes that determine party members's abilities. There are 14 normal jobs, plus 3 special ones that are unique for each character. Players collect “Dressspheres" to add to their job repertoire. Some other novelties include some adventure elements that have Yuna jump, run and climb around the field but without the risk of falling to her death.
