High above in the heavens, there lies a sea monster named Cetus. Comprised of four stars, Cetus is defined by Menkar (head), Mira (neck), Deneb Kaitos (tail), and Baten Kaitos - faintest of the four which joins the sea monster's neck to the body. The phrase Baten Kaitos hails from the Arabic, and literally means "Sea monster's belly." Baten Kaitos, the game, bears little resemblance to anything or anyone's belly but it's a first class action-adventure where cards are used for battle. There's a few monsters in the game with bellies though. The entire game system is based on a deck of cards that a warrior controls. Similar to a regular deck of cards, the cards in Baten Kaitos are made up of suits and numbered values which may be assembled and used like a poker hand. Unlike regular cards, Baten Kaitos also gives each card elemental power. When fighting, players may deal a three of a kind, a straight, royal flush or other poker-like combinations to dole out the damage. Hands may be created by following the suits, numerical values or elemental bearings of the cards in your deck.
