The History of the Chocobo:
The Chocobo first appeared in Final Fantasy II, which was initially only released in Japan. It was first seen in America in Final Fantasy IV and ever since it has been a staple of the series, appearing in 17 Final Fantasy games, the Final Fantasy Unlimited anime series, and even in its own line of Chocobo Games! In the series, Chocobo are commonly used as transportation but sometimes they're used as 'Chocobo Power.' On occasion, wild Chocobo will be hostile and attack you, but you can often pacify it by offering it some Gysahl Greens, the favorite food of Chocobo. Some Chocobo can swim and fly, but the typical yellow Chocobo can only run.
