Following the Sega CD, the 32X was the second and final add-on for the Genesis that allowed the console to play games with 32-bit processing, and was created by Sega of America. Today, the 32X is considered one of Sega's biggest misfires due to its "tumor-like" design, its slipshod attempt to transition consumers to play 32-bit games, and bad timing since the Saturn released in Japan on the same day the 32X was launched. The 32X's gaming library consists of only 40 titles, 6 of which required both the Sega CD and 32X to play.
