The keypad has been made to fit precisely in the shape of the wireless DualShock3/SixAxis controllers. The device is easy to attach and remove from the controller and is used as an alternative to the on screen keyboard. It also supports conversations in PlayStations' Home.
The keypad uses bluetooth functionality and is paired by connecting it with a USB cable to the console. The arrangement included two shortcut buttons, Touch Pad button (which allows you to use the surface of the keypad as a touch pad), along with a full QWERTY keyboard
