Not to be outdone by her normally more flamboyant counterpart, REI AYANAMI also is attired in her Gothic Lolita black "Noir" dress. Rei is designed to be displayed with Asuka, with both character bases being part of the weathered Evangelion world, or either can be displayed equally as nice as a solo piece. Neon Genesis Evangelion is a controversial and extraordinarily popular Japanese animated television series which started in 1995. It takes place in 2015, fifteen years after the catastrophic event known as the Second Impact, reportedly caused by a meteor strike, which wiped out half of Earth's population and tilted its axis. Suffering new attacks by strange monsters referred to as Angels, humans find that conventional weapons are useless against the Angels, and the only known defence against them are the biomechanical mecha (Evangelions -Evas-) which are created by the paramilitary organization NERV.
