The Kendo prodigy Tamaki Kawazoe comes from the Japanese manga series, Bamboo Blade, by Masahiro Totsuka and Aguri Igarashi. Toraji Ishida, a luckless high school Kendo instructor, trains a team, and discovers Tamaki Kawazoe, a gifted young female kendo practitioner.
