The ColecoVision was originally released in 1982 and offered near-arcade quality graphics. With its official licensed Donkey Kong as its pack-in game, the ColecoVision became one of the most popular console of the early 1980's.
The ColecoVision launched with 12 titles. Within the first 2 years since its release, the ColecoVision game catalog grew to include over 145 games. By Christmas, 1982, the ColecoVision sold more than 500,000 units. By the time it was discontinued the ColecoVision sold over 2 million units.
One of the most unique features of the ColecoVision was its ability to accept expansions. These expansions include a module to allow Atari 2600 games to work on the ColecoVision, a driving controller for use with Destructor, Bump n' Jump and Dukes of Hazzard, an expansion to allow the system to become a full fledged computer – the Coleco ADAM.
