The History of the Tonberry:

The Tonberry first appeared in Final Fantasy V, which was initially only released in Japan. It was first seen in America in Final Fantasy VI and it has since been seen in 14 Final Fantasy games. In battle, the Tonberry will slowly advance towards the player, swinging his lantern. Upon reaching the player, he will use his Chef's Knife to stab a party member for massive damage.
